Put a Little Love in Our Lives!!

Romance, Romance -

Ladies and Gentlemen (or Scarletts and Rhetts) - Romance is in the air and it isn't even February! So - please tune into your romance radar and tell us (name and describe) your favorite hunk or vamp in a book, movie, or tune that sets the mood. For example, an outstanding vamp in music is "Lola" from "Damn Yankees" ("Whatever Lola Wants") and a hunk favorite of mine is strong, silent Joe Pike from the Elvis Cole mystery series written by Robert Crais. Joe is tough and no nonsense, but is beginning to grow a soft heart (sigh).

A couple of romance author sites to investigate are: http://www.rwanational.org/cs/home and http://www.coloradoromancewriters.org/

How about some input from you creative RAVALA types for romance sites - -and don't forget to tell us about your favorite hunks and vamps!!

One of my favorite romance sites is www.theromancereader.com. It gives reviews of current romances, gives them stars for how good they are and also rates them according to how steamy they are, like G, PG-13, R. This is a great site to send patrons to for new authors.

One of my all-time favorite romances is Fallen Angel by Anne Stuart. The hero is completely transformed by his love for the heroine in a totally unexpected way.

Woo, woo, woo! Just come to my cubby for hunky guys! "love is all around", sung by Scots group Wet, Wet, Wet with frontman Marti Pellow is truly romantic. "Kiss of the Highlander", book 4 in Karen Marie Moning's Highlander series has 6 and a half foot Drustan MacKeltar, who just drips sexuality. The 2005 version of "Pride and Prejudice" has dreamy and sexy-voiced Scot Matthew Macfadyen as Mr. Darcy. Sigh.

The American Film Institute's "100 Years... 100 Passions" selected their list of the 100 greatest American romantic movies. Stupidly, the AFI locks their lists away behind a log-in page on their website (afi.com) but you can see the entire list on Wikipedia at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AFI%27s_100_Years..._100_Passions

Like Moviefone's list, Casablanca is no. 1.

My favorite sappy romance film is Pretty Woman", it started my one sided romance with Richard Gere.
If they ever make a movie of my husband's life, he can play my husband and I'll play myself. For books "The Thorn Birds" was very good

Hahahaha! Karen, your cubby is the ideal place to find "hunky guys"! I sat there last Saturday when I was assigned to SM and just cracked up! Your choices for pinups are all perfect!

Getting back to the topic at hand, another good site for romance is www.romantictimes.com It has author info, book reviews of over 30,000 books and an advanced search section that allows you to search by publication date, rating, category ie chick lit, erotica, historical, etc. It also includes romance for YA's.

Ok, I know that I am prone to leaving overly enthusiastic posts about things, but I just get so passionate about movies and books that I adore! I'm not a big romance reader anymore, but I am just a romantic at heart and live vicariously through any heroine in a romantic book or film. My all time favorite love story is "An Affair to Remember". I had never seen it until they talked about it in Sleepless in Seattle, went right out and bought the DVD. Cary Grant is amazing, there are just not men like him anymore, shameful! It is just my absolute favorite, and anything with even a slightly romantic, gushy undertone to the storyline hooks me immediately!!!
